How did America's closest Ally in Asia become its largest enemy and the Communist China we know today?
The greater the power of the Chinese Communist Party, the less the US liked China. The rise of Communism in China was troubling to the West because it was the most populous country in the world turning communist. This led to the collective shunning of China and the creation of a Soviet-China alliance which would shape China in the Cold War and beyond.
